Only as much as if they walked around. They'd have to case the joint to see if people were in, anyway.

True, but it must help them target an area to walk around.

I'm stereotyping the petty thief as a lazy git. If he can sit at home and case a joint (or a whole area) it must be a slight help? ;)

Luckily for us, the view of our house gives nothing away. Partly because our living room is at the back.

I wonder: is it possible to appeal to Google to get one's house taken off street view? Or blurred, or something?

Surely such actions would work against the cause. Almost like disguising oneself as a bush in the desert.

Quite right. Photoshopped, would be a better option. So: I need to figure a way to paste this into my housefront and see off any wannabe burglars screaming and gibbering:

Mine's obscured by the trees on one side, and the branches of another on the other side. The car's not in the drive, and my bedroom windows got the curtains shut

Nothing to see there...move along

I've only just found mine today.

I didn't want to have my home on street view. I know my house is on view to the public who pass it but the view on Google is not representative. Especially so as I am not with the owner of the car that is on my drive anymore and I know what is happening just the other side of the bedroom window that is not covered and can be seen into!

So how does one get an image removed or fuzzed out?

Holy S*it they've even street mapped the street I live on! It must have been Summer last year, next door's car is still there and he has sinced moved. My top floor windows are all open so it definitely was in summer. My car is in the drive but I suspect I had cycled into work that day.

Underground car park, midnight tonite. Fivers, in a suitcase, used, no consecutive numbers please. And we'll have 'backup', so no funny business with rectangles cut from newspaper...

95% of UK streets are now on. Mine appeared this morning. My car is in it twice.

I'm not convinced it's as high as 95%, I'm surprised my house is in it, but exploring in more detail the surrounding area there are loads of roads that have been missed off, and some roads I'm surprised they've bothered to go down, most people try and avoid them if they can due to them being extremely narrow with nasty tight bends. Some of the splicing together of images hasn't been done very well either. It has been fun though, Just found Paddy, my dads dog sitting on the front step!
