My excuseS are:

It's raining heavily

Today was my first lie-in for two weeks and it'll be another two weeks before my next one (I'm normally up at 05.45 every work day).

I've got back-ache

I've got a cold.

Beat that lot, then!

I got no sleep and rode 100km on Friday night. It was my longest ride since September, during which time I was admitted to hospital as an emergency case and took eight weeks of sick leave.

Do I beat you?

There are lots of other things I wanted to do more than ride a bike, 5.45 is a lie in every day. 5am the alarm goes off here 7 days a week and we seldom need it. 5,6 or 7 they are all just anumber in the end.

I was supposed to be riding home from Devon but we had a change of plan.

I have no route planned.... who knows!

Almost, apart from the bit about eight weeks of sick leave. That's a lie-in EVERY day!

Now relaxing in the garden monitoring the fountain to make sure it works.
