Ah, you are that far south, are you.

Yes! I live in a frontier town; this is the badlands. Ain't nobody been this far South and survived ...

Left for a ride at 7.30am this morning. A bit of rain.. gawd I thought, here we go this is going to last all day. By 9am the rain and cloud had cleared to leave a beautiful sunny day (pics here). Once it got dark it started to rain again, but not heavy.
Tomorrow though is not looking good.

Great set of pics! I keep meaning to join a cycling club and go out on weekend rides. What sort of speed/distance do you do? My riding is mainly for fitness, I have number of circular routes which are about 25 miles long and I like to blast round them at Warp Factor 10 without stopping.

You guys have nothing to gripe about regarding wet weather. Here in glorious Fermanagh we have had rain daily for the past 35 days. Water levels in loughs and rivers were up on average by 4 feet which meant that Fermanagh was, including the two loughs, nearly half submerged. Made it a bit difficult for cyclists!!!

Got up about half seven, and its p*****g down like noah's just built his ark, and I'm thinking I'm in today, but about quarter to nine the misses says its stopped, by nine I'm on my way to Earlswood in bright sunshine, and that's how it stayed. Two and a quarter hours and thirty miles later I arrived at Earlswood, having spent most of the time slogging into the wind at 10-15mph. There was only the fast group in, and they were only six strong, the slow group I was hoping to go back with never showed. I came back on my own and spent some of the time flying at 20-22mph with a tail wind and some of the time slogging into the wind at 10-15mph, got back about half one having done 54 miles. Having got cleaned up changed and fed I am sitting here in a cloud of deepheat fumes with glowing thighs thinking now I'm sorted must get the bike cleaned up.

The next three days down here look not too bad. Dryish, sunny intervals. How reliable that is, is anybody's guess.

Bet you'll still get a hosepipe ban come June though. ;)

Arrived home with very wet bike, very wet kit. Dumped panniers in house, spent 30 mins in shed cleaning and drying bike, drinking coffee and listening to radio.

Then got in to sort wet kit out, currently drying on radiators in three rooms.

And tomorrow, I get to do it all again... ;)

I hate winter commutes sometimes, I do.

Chucked it down on me on the way home, but full waterproofs on meant I wasn't wet underneath. And the spray coming off the front of my front mudguard was illuminated by my front light like sparks, so it looked like I was riding an angle grinder....

Was very lucky today. Got up out of bed this morning to the sound of heavy rain on the windows, by the time I left it has stopped. Was raining quite hard again late this afternoon, but once again it stopped just before I left for home.... Result
