Solar Eclipse watching..

Have you ever experienced a total eclipse?

I have several in the toolbox.

Seen one you've seen them all.

My sister went on holiday with friends to an island in the Mediterranean. They took a taxi to a beautiful clifftop village and stayed to watch the sun set over the sea. One of the friends started complaining about hanging about up there when they could have been back at the hotel bar - "When you've seen one sunset, you've seen them all..."!

I think that my phone camera would be overpowered by a direct photo of the partially eclipsed sun so I will experiment with stacking sunglasses in front of its lens, to see if that helps.

This one 2026 is going to be very low to the horizon, so you will need a high vantage point and clear view.

The country (according to the media) does seem to be getting overly excited about a partial eclipse. I expect a lot of people will be feeling rather underwhelmed at around 7:15pm.

It's almost 2 hours before sunset, it won't be that low.

The sunny evening will just effectively briefly become an overcast evening!

Still, it's a good excuse for an evening ride.

I was up, and hiking on the High Peak Trail early this morning.
Didn't see any meteors showering, sadly.

Started hiking @ 03:51so, yes it was. Quite ckear, too.
