Solar Eclipse watching..

I quite like the fact that nature goes spookily quiet as the eclipse hits is maximum coverage.

I'm fascinated by astronomy, watch several online astronomy feeds, have a good telescope, even done degree vourses in astronomy but find I can't get excited about eclipses.

Why do you think there was anything wrong? I just said I don't find them particularly interesting. There are vast numbers of amazing objects in the (night) sky and I personally don't find two happening to align particularly amazing.

There are. For an astronomy enthusiast such as yourself I find it rather odd that seeing the sun's corona isn't one of them.

Different people have different interests. Personally my fascination is more deep space than solar system.

Yes, will be all set up with telescope and Herschel wedge. And then the Perseid meteor shower once the sun has set. Should be a great evening.
