Some days I wonder why I bother

Yesterday called an idiot just because I had right o:biggrin:f way and today a self-gratification artist because he had to slow down before he could over take.

I dream of the days when petrol is £2.00 a litre !

And people will still drive. They'll bemoan the cost of petrol, but they'll still drive.

That's true enough, but they'll drive less, and a lot more of them will cycle.

Yeah, fingers crossed.

I do wonder how many will just carry on driving though. I promised myself I would give up driving when it reached £1. I still have a car, and its only recently that I've become a "hardcore" (in the loosest sense) commuter.

Well the thought does cheer me up a bit when they piss me off.

Cheer yourself up with this:

Every single one of them is far angrier, more bitter and contorted with rage than the minor annoyance you feel. And why are they angry?

Deep down... for some deep deep down... they want to be you.

..only £2..? its forecast to be up to £5 within the next 6 years if the people on the street are to be beleived.

The majority will still drive though, I agree. Stupidity in spades, they'll all be skint haha!! Oil-based cars will slowly be replaced with compressed air, hyrdrogen-cell and electric. People will still drive

I bet on most days you love the freedom and sheer damn good fun of riding your bike tho.

The only difference about the abuse is on a bike you hear it, in a car you'll get called just as often. Some cock you've probably never met calls you a name cos you're far happier on your commute than he is, balls to him, let it be water off a ducks back, smile and enjoy the ride.

What a fantastic attitude that is, oughtobeasleep, I will adopt it immediately! Seriously...what is the point of getting wound up and arguing with someone or being upset by people who just don't know the right answer?

I'm normally very vocal, and one tit who'd spent the last quarter mile harrassing me because he couldn't overtake, and I was taking it pretty steady on ice (that would have made him crash too!) passed me, then stopped and opened his door on me to tell me he should have right of way 'cos "you're a f*cking bicycle and don't pay tax and insurance blah f*cking blah". Under most circumstances I would have launched into an educational tirade, but on this occasion I realised you can't educate pork. I therefore simply told him to get out of my f*cking way or I would rip his stupid f*cking head off and cycled off, serene and calm in the crisp frosty air. I think he saw my point.

I don't get to cycle commute much as I live 2.5miles from work. (I commute in a suit).
However I took my cycling gear in (on a car day) with the expectation that I would cycle home the long way some day.

That day was today.

I attempted a 12 mile loop from where I work to home. It was the foggiest, most congested, most snarled up 12 miles I have ever travelled. Needless to say, I loved it!!!!

The only hassle I had was filtering on the right (40mph zone) and a cabbie flashed me - I guess my Fenix L2D was a bit bright.

I took 30 mins that it would take nearer 2hrs in a car tonight.

Great fun and a great workout.

Am I the only one that thinks riding in traffic sharpens the senses??
