I've shot hundreds of rabbits on the farm in the past, with air rifle when I was younger, and then shotgun. They are cute yes, and it's not a good feeling killing them, but when they're eating 10% of your crop it is definitely pest control. The graveyard in town used to have rabbit problems, so unofficial exterminators (i.e locals with either ferrets or air guns) where more reliable and economical (read free) than going through the proper channels. I don't see a problem as long as it's not some kid doing it who could either shoot someone by accident or maim the animal rather than kill it outright.
