This is a terrible photo as I didn't have my glasses with me and couldn't actually see what I was taking with my phone due to bright sunshine, but isn't it good that someone at Bournemouth council decided to install this repair stand It has a set of tools attached to wires and a really good pump. Ok so most cyclists will carry the basics with them it's still nice that this is on the prom

We have a few around town. The one near the amphitheater has the added benefit of being able to see rehearsals while fixing your bicycle.

We just get a pump on the Sheffield 5 weirs route, or at least that's all I've seen on the two times I've done it, but then it's only suitable for Schrader valves

We have a few of the pumps dotted around Sheffield, haven't seen any with tools though.

One had to be removed it was so badly vandalised within days, but I've seen another on my route being used often.

That's brave considering what goes on at night in Bournemouth , any bolt cutters for the odd stag handcuffed to a lamp post:eek:

Might be a good idea if these points were available along the main cycleroutes(Im thinking of such as the Hadrians route and the like).Whilst the majority of riders will be well prepared, these routes are often used by local occasional riders, familes and the like who may not be quite so well equipped. Not only that,, when the question arises, where would you site them in order that they be easily found, especially in rural areas?Well why not beside a phone box?Areas will differ of course but we here at least have a number of boxes still in situ(given our often problematic mobile signal).Marked on maps, known to locals should you need to ask and recognisable whatever your nationality.Given the will and a bit of vision(not a modern British trait,I know)it must be possible, as this area envisages the box use to house publicly defibrillators.Adapt that idea.Wont happen though, will it?

There are two on n42 between Bristol and bath. Just the pump but they have tools at Warmley in the cafe and Avon Valley railway in the cafe again. No substitute for carrying your own though.
