Moved from the commuting thread as not to go off topic.

The weekend has landed and it's the weekend where the new steed gets its maiden voyage. I've had the beast tucked up since getting it in January, not even got it set up properly yet, so going to spend sometime getting it right then go for a blast. I've not had that new bike feeling for almost 6 years now so pretty excited. Really looking forward to putting some miles in on this.

Sorry to hear about he rock in the face @MickeyBlueEyes hope not too much pain or swelling, not enough info on the shorts and bike though, what are they then?
It was only a tiny cut, just couldn't get it to stop bleeding.
Shorts are Castelli Velocissimo, the new steed is:

Oh yes indeed...
And take of the decals from the wheels and it will positively be sex on a stick.
Yeah have thought about that Ian. I like the stationary look of all black, but like the blurred rotation of decals. Will make the call in a few rides time.

I thought it was a Specalized Venge until I read the planetx stickers, pretty!
I do believe that a Venge and a Ridley Noah had a romantic night together and this was produced.

Planet X EC130-E.
I wanted a Venge for a long time but funds wouldn't stretch that far. As soon as I saw this beast advertised at the Bike Show last September I was waiting like a kid for Christmas for its release date. December came, order placed, end of January pick up, and its been tucked up ever since.

Very slippery looking. Nice. Not for commuting duties though?!
It won't necessarily be a commuting thing, but I do most of my miles to and from work, so the days where I'm going to put in a 50 mile inbound commute with some efforts or meet for an evening blast then I will be going to work on it.

I'm thinking of racing this year so bought it with this in mind.

Agree with that. If you're going stealth, go stealth all the way. I bought this last year (probably the last bike Canyon actually delivered!) and the full black looks well-weapon, even if the wheels (Mavic Carbones) aren't that great to ride.

A smart beast to be sure. What is it you don't like about the Mavics? Are they SLS's?

Crits or long road races ? Racing for yourself or part of a club/team? are you going to re-think your commute pragram?
My MTB club is getting a bit serious and noticed I had entered a enduro a while ago and have entered the first race of a MTB XC series. I have now been included in the race "team" got sent a email this morning for a team meet up and what my build up for the first race should be. They dont want me commuting on Friday but to rest up. Haven't the heart to tell them I'm just going for a giggle ( ok I admit it, and to see if I can kick some butt)
Enjoy the racing I found it a real eye opener when I had a go years ago as to what constituted a fast commuter and a fast racer, 2 different animails. Was quite shocked at the difference in standards, but from the sound of your commutes and activities may not be a shock to you.

Looking forward to spinning this out on a Sunday Club run CK, when we've had some stable weather of course
Indeed !
Its been pants the last few weeks , given out cold tomorrow so im undecided and as i m between groups if im honest it might pay me to go out on my own for a while and get my mojo up rather than dawdling and losing my edge .
