Good that you managed to solve the issue! Though I still do not really get why there was a problem. This is i.e. the bike of a friend of mine. It has the >2018 brakes and a SON Edelux along with the Brompton bracket and no issues with mounting a bag.

It's not my bike but on mine they are fitted relatively similar. What do you mean by "unconventionally"?
Edit: Now I think I see what you mean: The bolts of the grips are on the front which is indeed unconventional - at least it looks weird on the photo. On my bike they point towards the rider. I haven't seen the bike in a while, when I saw it last time everything was ok regarding the grips. Not sure which Ergon model it is exactly. Possibly these are GC1

Can't show it on Edelux as I don't want to dismantle it again but this should give an idea. It will lean ever so slightly either right or left once tightened. Probably not a big deal for most people but it makes me uncomfortable if light doesn't point dead straight.
