Sora Chainset - FSA Tempo Chainset

Can I replace a Sora 9 speed compact chainset (hollowtech 2 BB) with an FSA Tempo compact chainset (Chin Haur CH52 BB) on a Giant Defy compact 9spd sora? I don't want to at the moment but have one and want to know if it's worth keeping it as a spare.

The Tempo is a square taper crankset, so will not be a straight swap onto the HT2 BB.

Im not trying to mix and match. If I use the Tempo I will use the Chin Haur BB.

FSA Tempo's were used for 8,9 and 10 speed systems. The rings for each speed might be fractionally wider/narrower but will basically work well with any of those other speeds. So - yes the cranks will work with your set up.

However I would check that the chainline that the BB/Tempo cranks produce is roughly similar to what you have at the moment.

Thanks AP. How do I figure out if the width of the BB I have is correct (111mm).
