i know, not unusual, get good gloves, correct fit of bike.

But my question is, would you expect pain in hands (and a@@e) when suddenly increasing mileage? Until recently I did little riding, but currently on holiday in France and doing 25-45 miles per day.

Any tips for things to look out for or help adjust to higher mileage?

Stem wise I've just switched, and feel I probably have that about right now. It's possible most of the hand pain started before I switched. It's not that bad, annoying on rides, and hurts if I push down on heel of hand. I have good gel tech gloves.

Too much weight being transferred to your hands, try re-positioning so you have the majority of your weight on the saddle, you should have your hands just resting on the handle bars.
