Slippery scientist
I always wear something on my hands - full finger in the winter and mitts in the summer. It has always been about protection for me, in case I come off, but more recently I have suffered with some palm discomfort issue so I wear gel-padded gloves/mitts.

Thanks - what brand do you use? Always curious...

As long as I breathe, I attack.
has to be full finger unless its mid summer and bright sunshine , i have reyanuds and even the windchill from riding on a sunny day can send my fingers white .
last sunday i chanced it with thin full finger lycra running gloves and even though it was a warm sunny day the ends of my fingers were white

I wear gloves all the time now incase I should come off! Thicker ones when it's cold . The thought of gravel rash on my hands doesn't appeal to me !

Do you have Raynauds Syndrome?

Road rash on the palm of your hands is not like a grazed leg. Hands take ages to heal and in the meantime, you can't use them. I was hit and fell then skittered down the tarmac and my leather mitts were a lot thinner by the 10 yard line. I was at my desk by lunchtime, a bit bruised but functional.

I live with cold hands and feet all year round (nothing medical) so gloves always, when it eventually get warm enough padded fingerless mitts to help reduce road buzz ( whatever brand though have found Specialised BG good) on the days where it starts chilly I'll wear thin running gloves until I / it's warm enough underneath to take off
