While I'm excited: is anyone thinking of baking a cake especially and bringing it along to be shared? (Asking for a friend, obvs.)

For those that need to get back to London asap what would be a reasonable time I could give?
Cheers

You can be pretty sure we'll be in Southend by about 8.30am. You'd need to work it out from there - the trains go to Fenchurch Street.

I go for the 1530 to 1930 kip on the Friday, @J1888 - that's because I am retired and have no work to go to. I then go for the large pasta meal at 2000 - that's rather than 2100 because I will be catching a train from Northampton.

I did read once of the 4-4-4 rule. That is, before any event (and a FBRttC is an event rather than just a ride), get 4 good nights sleep, eat well 4 hours before the start, and then drink/eat something with an energy boost 4 minutes before the start.

I'm no fitness fanatic. I've been programmed by millennia of Scottish genes to avoid healthy food. My energy boost of choice 4 minutes before anything is a can of IrnBru.

On the Friday evening of an FNRttC I typically eat a normal meal at the normal time of about 7pm, and then try to lie down in a darkened room for an hour or two. I rarely actually sleep but it seems to help. The one time I did have a full evening's activity before the ride (working on the bar at a school function) was the one time I didn't complete. That was a very very wet Brighton ride with a substantial number of punctures and the ride was running way behind schedule. I had a train to catch (which we were never going to make) and I was feeling shagged out, so I bailed out at Haywards Heath.
