Spaghetti Portion Size

According to the Men from the Ministry, one standard portion of spaghetti can be measured using your finger and thumb making a hole the size of a £1 coin.
What common-all-garden or household object is equivalent to your spaghetti portion.
Mine seems to be between a cotton reel and a large snail

I still can't get 'rice' correct - either too much, or too little.

Spaghetti..I get about a inch thick bundle and simply snap it into 3.
Put in pan ,it's about right for 2 servings.

I throw the rest away...

For pasta I always use scales; 2oz if the pasta is being added to meat or veg, 3oz if it's not (maybe just adding a little lemon juice, olive oil and parmesan).

It’s been a while since we had spagetti, but Mrs IRW used to have a thing with holes in to measure it- always seemed like a meagre amount to me, so I always said to double it...!

I use scales too, but when I have pasta (shells) with my veggie curries I usually have 150 g (5.3 oz)! Same for rice or cous cous. If I am not that hungry I would cut it down to 125 g (4.4 oz).
