I mentioned a while ago that I am getting unwanted spam mail every day. They claim to be from a site telling me a woman want to chat with me.
They all go into my spam folder. From there I dont get the option to block or report it via the 3 dots.....however, if I send it to the bin then I can block and report it.
It has no effect as next day I get similar but obviously a different email.
There appears to be a parent Web address which I cant block via my phone so I have a friend trying to block it via a computer (as advised by google).
Apparently trying to block it is the wrong thing to do as it tells "Them" my account is alive and they just jeep passing/selling it to other spammers..
So.......I am just letting spam bin them.
Meanwhile I have created a new Gmail address and when I'm ready will delete the existing one.
Phew......I'm knackered just typing this.

I keep getting one from mcafee software about two a week :cursing:

I setup rules on the mail server to automatically delete such messages. Sender has no idea they've been deleted. As long as you can identify rules based on content, subject, sender it works well.

Being processed and deleted on the server it never gets anywhere near my phone or laptop.

Some people include hidden trackers in mail messages so they can detect when you receive/read it. Most would block such indications in their mail app (Disable "Load Remote Content") so sender has no idea what's happened to the message.

Some mail apps used to provide an option to return mail to sender "No such recipient@ (unknown address) but many/most have removed that functionality as it's generally thought best to just silently delete.

I confess, I am nowhere near technical enough to even try doing what you suggest.

How to do it depends on who provides your mail servers eg Apple have very different methods than Microsoft than Fastmail, etc. so sadly not something I can say 1. Do <x>, 2. Then <y>, etc.

Often the mail providers web based interfaces (where you read you mail in a web browser) will have help pages telling you how to do it

Sort of riles might be eg
Where sender is *@xyzrecruitment.ru
Or Where Subject Contains 'Amazing Opportunity"
Or Where body contains "Online Pharmacy"

Then on match eg "Permanently Delete Message" or "Move message to Junk and mark as read"

The server checks all mail arriving against all rules and if any match does the configured action.

You can normally set up lots of rules each with its action in match,

I think that is what my friend has done. The action it needs apparently cant be done on a phone so she is going to try it on her computer (using my details).
