Hi all

I've had my spesh secteur for about 6 weeks now with Shimano R540 SPD-SL pedals fitted (http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/shimano-r540-spd-sl?bct=browse/accessories/pedals-toeclips). The left pedal has developed a pronounced clicking sound and I can feel my foot moving a little. it's especially noticeable when I am pedalling hard.

I tried to solve it by tightening the resistance on the pedal, but it hasn't made much difference other than making it really hard to clip in and out of!

Any ideas? Might my cleats be worn? The yellow bits are a bit frayed but still there...

Help!

cheers.

cleats are unilkely to be worn in 6 weeks - have you checked if the cleat is loose..?

I had a pair of those that the bearing failed on within weeks. If you remove the pedal you should be able to tell by feel if it's turning on the axle ok (or not) when you rotate it.

The clicking sound could be a cleat bolt that has worked loose. The washer then goes back and forth giving the clicking sound and of course the cleat isn't fixed properly hence the movement.

Another one to add:
I have some Specialized shoes that have a small metal plate, between the sole and insole, that allows you to fix SPD style cleats. They could rattle/click on every upstroke. So I removed them.
