Such a shame kids nowadays don't get that kind of passion and enthusiasm passed onto them to do that kind of thing.
How do you know what kids nowadays do?
They are as varied in their interests as any generation ever has been.

My two nephews have learnt loads of hands on practical schizzle from my dad, and one of em is dead set on being an engineer of some sort.

I think it's very well established that many kids today spend a lot of time on tablets, consoles etc. Things were different 30-40 years ago because even if you had an Atari or Grandstand most families only had 1 TV to play them on.

I loved to tinker when I was a kid without any encouragement (far from it). My 4 year old loves to tinker and I involve him in everything from washing the car to changing a sink waste last weekend. Unfortunately kids have more competing distractions today than we had.
