I think my favourite bit is when the Stonehenge prop turns up, at 18" rather than 18 feet.

I saw them in the Albert Hall years ago and they were fantastic. At the start of the show, the lead singer earnestly announced
" Some people have expressed concerns that the merchandise on sale tonight may have been made by child labour. Well don't worry...the stitching is really good..."

I saw it a the cinema when it was re-released a few years ago. It was just over an hour long - all the best bits seemed to have been censored for the US market. Apparenly Americans "don't do irony."

My baby fits me like a flesh tuxedo, I'd like to sink her with my pink torpedo!

Spinal Tap is essential viewing to any musician... also, the DVD commentary is amazing because they are all in character.

"There were lots of nights on the tour where we found the stage without any problems....but they never show you that!"

Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, I've been fooling around with it for a few months.
Marty DiBergi: It's a bit of a departure from what you normally play.
Nigel Tufnel: It's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy I'm working on in D minor which is the saddest of all keys, I find. People weep instantly when they hear it, and I don't know why.
Marty DiBergi: It's very nice.
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump".

Fantastic movie, great p***-take^_^. The bass player with the long hair is Harry Shearer, best known these days as the voice of Mr Burns/Smithers etc, in The Simpsons.

Saw Harry a couple of years ago doing a musical comedy show with his wife in a small room at the Edinburgh Fringe. He did a lot of bass-playing and singing, though none of it in his Spinal Tap guise

If you get the chance, check out the same ensemble cast in their folk-music spoof, 'A Mighty Wind'. That's good for a giggle too!

A mate was trying to tell me about the film once; he was telling me about that scene and was laughing so hard that he almost passed out!
