I once had a meal in Keswick with my girlfriend and stepdaughter. We'd been out walking on the fells all day so I was really hungry, but the food took ages to arrive. As a result, the 2 pints of strong lager I drank went straight to my head and I was chuckling merrily as we ate the main course.
We liked the look of the Sticky Toffee Pudding, so when the waiter came over and asked about desserts I announced in a slow, thunderous, slurring, crowd-silencing voice - "My... girlfriend... would... love... a... big... stiffee.............. er, tocky pudding!

I was locking up at work some years ago...i turned to another guy and said...'better wock up the lorkshops'
We stopped, looked at each other...and peed ourselves laughing for a minute or so.
That started deliberate spoonerisms at work at any opportunity. One day a guy came running into the workshop....'come and have a look at this outside' all excited.
Outside was a lorry with a 'Booker Fitch' logo on the side. I'll let you work it out

And if you are still being nosey, then you might as well know that the girlfriend in question is now my ex because after 15 years of being a girlfriend she came to the conclusion that it wasn't going anywhere.
And if you are being really stalker-nosey, you probably already know that she is having a bath downstairs as I type, and no - we don't, and yes - perhaps I'd like to!

Sorry Chris, I wasn't really being nosey. I didn't realise you could have a step daughter without a wife!

No, I'm not offended, but I'm surprised that you find it confusing given how many people end up not getting married these days. It's easy to get a step-daughter without being married, you just start up with someone who already has one!
If I didn't call her my step-daughter I'd call her my daughter since I was around from when she was 1 until she was 16. That would actually make more sense, but I'm a bit fussy about details like choosing the right words for things (probably comes from my engineering background).
