Just to remind..... I am a complete technophobe.
I have managed to download the Spotify basic app.
It is obvious how to search then play various artists.......BUT....I cant see how to download & save any chosen tracks.
Is it possible or can I only do that with Spotify Premium ?

Congregations you're just about to be Tangoed!

I believe its a streaming service which means you can listen as much as you like but no downloads, but you have to pay even for that. If you want to download use iTunes, but that will be discontinued soon. To be replaced by Apple Music, also a streaming service.

Very odd that all these services are £10 a month.

In between here and there
Pretty sure subscription holders can make playlists to use offline, but the moment you stop paying you lose your playlist

As others have said, the offline bit is part of their premium service. Tenner a month for an individual subscription or 15 squid for a family membership, which covers mutliple separate users (with their own accounts/libraries/playlists etc) at a single address and is well worth having if you have a family member who also like to listen

I would happily pay an extra SuperPremium rate if the additional money actually went to the artists - apparently they make pennies from most streaming services. Instead I tend to go see as much live music as I can and find things to buy on the merch desk - most of which I give as gifts - and buy tickets to live music for people as gifts for birthdays/Christmas etc

I have Spotify premium. One day I will get around to creating a new account so when I'm listening at work and OH starts using it on the stereo at home it doesn't shut mine down ...

Nothing to add because others have already answered your question - I do like that the Spotify API allows it to be used via other software (like Volumio - which is what the stereo at home runs) I just find that whereas as a kid one had to curate a music collection, and perhaps sometimes invest time in learning to love an album (because you'd spend a relative fortune on it), when faced with basically anything I can think of to listen to on Spotify, I have no idea what to do, and keep listening to the same old stuff. Maybe that's age though.

I use Google Play Music, again £10 a month. I find the interface much better than Spotify or Amazon, and so far every song I have wanted has been on there. The google search function also lets you press the Mic button inthe search bar and you can speak what song you want, which is a bonus if in the car.
