How long do you boil sprouts for?

As a fellow 'on my home on Christmas Day' chap,why put yourself through that? I bought a supermarket own brand Christmas dinner for a tenner,complete with sprouts,albeit what looks like about a couple of spoon fulls at most. 🧐

Don't boil them til soggy, they just become tasteless.

Cut them in halves and fry them in butter...

There's a thought! Brussels sprout flavoured crisps. Surely there must be some out there? 🤔

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but my sprouts are never boiled.... roasted, bit of olive oil, sometimes a bit of garlic, sometimes a small amount of brown sugar. I do like them to have a bit of caramelization.

Interestingly, sprouts are a food I have a problem with. I love them -at least for the first four or five, and then after that I dislike them more and more until I'd gag if I kept on eating them. It's really weird as I truly love them, but only at first.

There is only one way to do sprouts.
1. Boil quickly....5 minutes
2. Sprinkle with paprika
3. Fry lightly 5 minutes
4. Sprinkle with blackpepper
5 Microwave 3 minutes
6. Spread mustard on.
7. Fry again
8. Chuck them in (next doors) bin.
MrsD loves them. I can eat maybe 3. In theory we are having some with lunch today......fab, great, just can't wait

They should have been simmering since October
And watch out for the fall out afterwards it smells

IIRC Walkers did them some years ago as promo.

I boil for about 7 - 8 minutes ... the residual heat in them will finish them off perfectly by the time you’re actually eating them ...,

We normally have 12 - 15 for linchpin I think my wife forgot its only 4 today

Put them in boiling water with some salt. After 5 minutes take one out and try it. Then decide how much longer you need. I like my sprouts quite hard.
