Okay I've pretty much narrowed down my n+1 list to 2 MTBs (for the time being anyway.....);
Focus Whistler which has 27 speed Shimano Deore gears
Carrerra Kraken with 27 speed SRAM X5 gears.
I've never had SRAM gears before are these better / worse / just the same as Shimano?
Also would you go V-Brake or disc brakes in dusty/sandy/potholed/dry/crap roads? The cost of the Kraken is slightly more (as it hasn't been discounted as much as the Focus which has a higher retail price) but comes with disc brakes but I'm feeling more for the Focus.
