Stand still light

Hello folks, just joined forum . Looking for help on my raliegh roadster, 1950s i have one of those 9 inch tubes on the saddle tube that holds batteries and enables one to have lights on whilst standing still at traffic lughts etc. Dynamo coming in to play when you cycle off . Looking for wiring diagram etc. To show precise details. Is it automatic or does one have to flick a switch on coming to a stop ? Any help would be great .
