Steampunk is a great fashion; if I changed my look I would go steampunk.

There's a superb steampunk metro station in Paris; would London have the balls to do something as different and as good as this?

For me the original steampunk movie was A Series of Unfortunate Events:

Great station, rubbish film (the TV series is really good though).

I feel like I could... TAKE ON THE WORLD!!
I really like the aesthetic but I'm not sure I have the confidence to try the look.

if we step into games, I always thought Bioshock had a steampunk influence.

Steampunk and carbon are at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Like dinosaurs and Airbus A320s.
Like mineral water and whisky.
Like rock paintings and Kindle
Like bronze and titanium
Like steam and fission
Like Catholic cathedrals and condom factories
Like, you get the picture.

Leather-look bar tape and new-age Brooks saddles are mere anachronisms, not steampunk.
Ooooohhhhhhhh get 'er.
I only posted it as I like the retro look it has I know it is not Steampunk really. No need to point out everything you don't like about it.
A simole nice bike but it isn't Steampunk would have done :okay:

Dressing up as something that never existed is a bit weird in my book, but it's a free country (well it was last time I bothered to check).

I think there are elements of steampunk in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, but those have been considered after the event, rather than done specifically.

I guess so. I don't recall the number plate, but yes a full sized Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. My parents were heavily involved with the Leukaemia Research Fund and managed to blag the loan of it. We'd wheel it* to the High Street and then people would get their photo taken in it for a small donation.

*flat battery I understand.
