Clearly the idiots haven't read this data....

"While Bristol weighs-in less than some other local authorities, there has still been a negative trend in recent years. Just over one in ten Bristolians (14%) were obese in 2005, while today Bristol City Council’s data shows that the average obesity rate by ward is closer to one-fifth (18%). Although the mean city-wide population overweight or obese is under the national average, in eight Bristolian wards the percentage of people who are either obese or overweight exceeds that of the national average" source is http://www.connectingbristol.org/bristols-obesity-map/

I wonder how many people will turn up on Saturday in support? I do the Burnham on Sea Park Run, and I reckon there will be masses of support locally and Nationally.
Me too ......... good innit.
Much more relaxing than Ashton Court that's for sure!

Cheddar Running Club, which MiniUser76 is a member of, are trying to organise a Junior Park Run in Cheddar. Hopefully they won't encounter any issues of this nature.

They are surely going to have to reverse this decision very rapidly, Stoke Gifford Parish Council is becoming a national laughing stock.
Good luck with the Junior Park Run, the kids at Burnham really enjoy it when they run with their parents.

Next there will be a toll for cycling through. I cycled through the park twice this afternoon.

To put it into some context though, a local football club pay £60 every time they play a match so should the park run pay nothing? Maybe the football club should not be paying. Also I understand that part of the run is on the grass so that could be where the wear and tear comes in.

The difference is the football players pay subs to their club and when they are playing the field is off limits to everyone else. Park run don't charge the runners and everyone else can still use the paths during the run.
If other councils follow suit this will be the death of park run.

And of course the Park Run will be able to keep going during the repair / replacement program?!!

Be very interesting to know what the annual repair costs are and when is was last replaced. I feel an FOI Act request coming on.

EDIT: Request for information made under the Freedom Of Information Act. I will keep you updated if they ever do respond.

Meanwhile, several hundred parkrunners ran at Ashton Court this morning. I expect the cafe and the car park both earned a big chunk of cash.
