There is of course an interesting discussion to be had as to why and to what extent the place we encounter a thing and the label it is given affect our perception of that thing.

But before we could have that discussion, we'd have to decide whether to have it in the Cafe or SCP...

A claim that is oft made but lacks any reality.
Perhaps because any subject with a political connection attracts "them" like flies round sh!te?
"Ooh, look, the café has a post about something which is my area of expertise, given that I am an expert on absolutely everything. I must post on that and demand links to every claim being made, and a full thesis on the subject, because obviously everyone has as much spare time as I do to spend going round in pointless circles on an internet forum". <<<< Here, have a yellow face thing just to keep it café style .

You made a controversial statement, which appears to be at odds with the available evidence. If you don't like being challenged, stick with bikkit choices on the tea thread.

You must have the wrong person. Tea thread is not my, errr, cup of tea, but you might be able to drag up the occasional historical contribution if you go back far enough.

I never read it, but I think you'd like it there. You certainly don't seem to like being asked to think about stuff.

There's a time and place for thinking about stuff. Personally, I don't think a public forum full of strangers is the place for it. I come on here for light entertainment. YMMV, and each to their own and all that....

In which case, I'd give the controversial and unsupported statements a rest. It's not as if this is the first time.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

In which case a thread which opens thus:
It got me thinking - do the police have any right to stop and search you or even stop and question you?

...might not be a safe space for you.

If nothing else, you've now learnt that for some people thinking and discussion are entertainment.

Which, on the face of it, is all very reasonable. When you write this though

It is clear that there is more to it. A festering passive aggressive resentment.
I do enjoy the occasional wind-up too, that's part of the light entertainment.

Talk about stuff, don't talk about stuff. It is a simple choice we can all make. Get upset about other people's posts, don't get upset about other people's posts. It is a simple choice we can all make.
You are correct, but I don't get upset by any posts on this forum, or I would cease to read it. There is a degree of head shaking at the arrogance and rudeness of posts by one contributor in particular (no name mentioned) but I am far from alone in that. Always nice to see him have a fall, as he does regulatorly regularly (oops, my bad spelling!).

Could you provide a reasonable and unbiased link to your claims.
As they are unsubstantiated.
