I think it's something to do with The Met Office losing their contract with the BBC. It became a sort of displacement activity for them. See here....When did we start naming storms? I thought that was for hurricanes.

Just had 2 power cuts. Winds must have brought down a line somewhere. Power was off for half an hour and now it's up and down like a fiddlers elbow. Dog's going bonkers as it's getting upset with lights flashing on and off - thinks it's a thunder storm. Poor thing's panicking.
