Strange through axle question.

so my Dolmite 6 has through axles front and rear. Problem is there's no handles/levers on them. Just a hex opening but there's a nipple inside so my Allen key won't go in.
Do you think the previous owner removed handles so nobody would steal his wheels? I can't find any mole grips so stuck for removing wheels. Has anybody any experience with this?
I will add a picture later if people don't get what I mean.

Either as @ColinJ says or they might be security alllen bolts, you can buy the tools from the likes of Screwfix. Have you got a photo ?

They seem to have a smaller hex opening and a tiny nipple compared to those. If they need a key then I'm snookered apart from using grips on the outside.

I think they're security Allen bolts. I'm thinking of going to the shed in the dark now to photo ......

time for a trip to Halfords with the bike, you can then get the single one you need as opposed to a set where you only need one.(the single will be better quality than the ones in a set too)

Looking that way and time isn't in plenty right now. Would it be cheap-easy to put a handle on like on my MTB rear wheel?
