I was just checking segments in my area, I am slow so not too worried about the KOM's with the exception of one sprint I enjoy, I think I have about 5 to my name and mostly of my creation hidden away where no one goes... but I found this one rider which was obviously done in a car.

I don't take Strava serious, just try and beat my PR or get in the top 10 but I feel for people who have trained and do and some nobber just robs their Strava glory. Now I do have a sprint one near work which I sweated for, some guy on a MTB starts at his work about 100 yards from the segment, around a blind bend reaches 27mph and takes my KOM and then his ride ends right at the end of the segment.

Is this common practice by people? Just wondering really.

I flagged one of my Strava segments when I fell off my bike and a mates Dad recovered my bike in his van as my gps was still running and the last segment showed a 45mph average!!

Perhaps sometimes people chuck their bike in the back of their car after a ride and forget to switch off their gps?

I held a swathe of KoMs in the Pennines for a couple hours after driving home from an audax without turning the GPS off.

I did then crop them off.

For me Strava isn't about challenging anyone else anyway. There's too many variations in traffic/weather etc. for it to be too meaningful. Getting little PB flags after rides can be an unexpected pleasant surprise though.

Wait until you get someone steals your KOM at over 500mph!!!. He was either in a plane or it was a GPS lock jump which snapped him over my segment and strava matched it.

I'm not fast (like really not fast!) but I do like trying my best over Strava segments. Managed to get fifth on one, yes there was a tailwind and yes I was drafting a 7.5 ton truck, do I feel like I cheated? Definitely not! I need all the help I can get on my 12 year old dodgy mountain bike!

That happens a lot or more worryingly, folk are knocked off and the bike is put in a car whilst they go to hospital! You can crop the end off a ride and keep the record of the actuall bike ride but that might be the last thing on your mind
