I thought I'd heard reports that many mavic rims for rim-braked wheels weren't what they were.
I know they updated/improved my CXP22s by rebranding them as CXP Elite or soemthing in order to flatter - pretty sure the Elite meant that they'd shaved the braking surface - so I bought two NOS CXP22s to rerim when I need to.

Impossible to answer but if you are heavy on the wheels I'd be looking for fatter tyres to help things. That's one advantage of disc brakes - better clearances.

I spend very little on wheels. Shimano hubs, decent spokes (32/36 per wheel) and rims then build them myself.

That works out at about £100 a pair and I know who to blame if they go out of true!

Where do you get decent spokes to build wheels at £100 a pair please
