Fab Foodie, I agree that some of the programme gets a bit samey. I like the dancing bit. I missed most of tonight's programme.

I like the dancing bit and the training bit (I was a stalwart fan of 'Come Dancing' even during it's unfashionable years). What I dislike about 'Strictly' now is all the filler-nonsense, the 'celebrity-ness' of it all, the stupid little acts they use to stretch the program in the name of entertainment. The program didn't need dumbing down, it was fine as was, hence it's lost me as a viewer.

I agree FF. There's a lot of 'filler' in programmes these days; advance clips of things 'coming up', constant reviews of previous footage, extended delays on 'results'. That's why we record programmes on HD+ and then start watching an hour or so after the scheduled start, so that we can fast forward through the dross and 'build up'. It can reduce an hour's programme down to 20 minutes or less, especially taking out adverts if it's not BBC.

Dragon's Den is a prime example.
I used to really enjoy the programme. But now even that has gone down the route of coming up/previously/what will happen etc.. every bloody 5 minutes. It has really been dumbed down. It's like the programme makers think that we have the attention span of a gnat.

On another note.
I don't usually watch Come Dancing but the M-I-L is a great fan of the show and when was down there managed to watch half hour or so. It was strangely fascinating.

It is one of the very few programmes where you can hear live music being played. So there we have it, I watch Strictly.... for the music. Not sure it is a dance competition any more (if it ever really was)

I'm rather enjoying it so far this year. From what I've seen so far I would tip Jason Donovan or the young fella from Mcfly to win.

My least favorite competitors are Nancy and Chelsee. Nancy obviously assumed she would be brilliant. But although she looks the part she is no where near as good as she thinks she is. She has been making dark comments, blaming sabbotage for her first fiasco and producing a bad foot as an explanation for Saturday's effort.

I felt a bit sorry for Chelsee when I first saw her tottering around with her emormous chest like a weeble and did wonder why, with her success she hadn't had a breast reduction, then I read she'd actually paid to have them like that. Unbelievable  . Then, she opened her mouth her mouth to speak...... oh dear.

Speaking of which, has Alehsa had elocution lessons? There was a definite absence of any "you was" or "we done" on Saturday, which made me very happy.

Edit.
And what on earth is going on with Robbie Savage and the hair and teeth. Did he do it for a bet, or is it a joke? Was he like that as a footballer?

Yes. He was also a cheating, diving git.

I enjoy watching the dancers, but must admit that I find my attention wanders to watching the band and singers sometimes. They make a great sound for what seems to me a smallish group.

I'm told that the have sound engineers who work with them, rather than agin 'em, and don't apply hideous levels of compression to their sound meaning you can actually hear what they are playing. The BBC usually go completely over the top with compression on stuff recorded live, such that you'd not know a bass player was even at the gig for instance.

I was told that this is because the dancers need to hear, indeed almost feel, the rhythm section.

Regrettably Trevor Barry is living proof that the shortest fattest least attractive bloke in the band always ends up playing bass. (and wear great hats)

The very definition of a professional footballer these days

Despite the yellow card tally I always rather admired his uncompromising style of play, something of a throw back to a former era when soccer was still a contact sport.

Can't help feeling that Bert Swanley and the Debonnaires would be a better bet.

Apart from Donny Rovers, obvs - we just like passing the ball. We're not even fond of scoring very much....

Fed up of the over-hype on these shows and also the fact that it seems to be on every BBC channel. Like the X Factor, nobody watches these shows to see who wins. People watch them to see who gets rejected. It's about losing and how awful the judges are to you.

My OH is a big fan of Strictly, it's not really my cup of tea but I don't mind watching it. I bet Artem gets the third degree off Kara about Holly though.
