Love the show. It's one of those rare beasts that me, wife and kids can sit down and all watch and enjoy together.

The professional dancers are tremendous athletes. And I told the kids that Katya Virshilas is going to be their new mummy

Time for Bruce leave though.

I want Russell Grant to go all the way....

I like the dancing bit and the training bit (I was a stalwart fan of 'Come Dancing' even during it's unfashionable years). What I dislike about 'Strictly' now is all the filler-nonsense, the 'celebrity-ness' of it all, the stupid little acts they use to stretch the program in the name of entertainment. The program didn't need dumbing down, it was fine as was, hence it's lost me as a viewer.
Indeed, the whole of the Sunday "results show" could be done in 15 seconds.

The rest of it is... well, the only good thing about the rest of the Sunday show is that it's past Brucie's bed time.

Forsooth it has come to that time when Forsyth is no longer required!

The Dance Band is outstanding; and the vocalists are exceptional singers.

What was all that faffing about called "Hollywood Auditions"?
I'm struggling to think of an answer which doesn't have a rude word, other than "rubbish".

I did actually head back to my PC at that point, and sat here comparing the merits of a blank computer screen to the self-edited to read rubbish which was on the TV.

Considering how much time and effort (I use that word under advisement) went into it, that must have been a very expensive and embarrassing to watch piece of rubbish.
I hope you don't mind my addendum.

By coincidence, I was reading this article on the Guardian site earlier, in which Charlie Brooker ponders why the BBC make such expensive trailers. He also pulled Strictly out for comment towards the end of the article...
To shoot the recent Strictly trailer, for instance, in which celebrities lead a crowd of "ordinary folk" in a patronising pied-piper dance, I'd guess they had to close a couple of streets for several days (including one very tricky night shoot involving lots of pretty lights). It's glossily made and quite complicated, so there's also a big crew to pay. And as well as the stars themselves, all of whom require costume and makeup, I'd say they also had to hire about 50 extras. And a shitload of catering. All these people should be employed to make shows, not adverts for shows. That's like paying Heston Blumenthal millions to design a bespoke scent that'll tempt people to your soup truck, which only serves bargain soup made with cheap ingredients because that's all you can afford, having blown all the money on the smell. All that time and money to advertise a show which everybody knows about anyway. You could hold a bit of cardboard with "STRICTLY'S COMING BACK" scrawled on it in front of the lens for 10 seconds and it would have 10 times the impact. Madness.

The BBC recently filmed a short programme using a building near here.

I calculated that approximately fifty members of staff were working on the programme for a whole week. Add in their accomodation costs, the vehicles, food etc.

Ie 50 x £40 x 40 = £80,000 at a conservative estimate for say twenty minutes of filming.

Here for rides.
To go off at a tangent; why do the BBC insist on sending staff to do "standing in a street talking to a camera in a small town where something has happened" pieces in the news? Is a TV journalist really better informed if he is standing in the street than in a studio?

The results show is recorded on a Saturday night, so if you can't wait until Sunday evening to find out who goes out, then you can find out HERE

You do have to trawl through the thread for the answer though.

I love watching SCD. Couldn't give a hoot who wins or goes; JD will win though I reckon. I just like the costumes the lady professional dancers wear and I get mesmerised over the gorgeous flat tummies they sport and the gorgeous shape to their legs.
