Thanks again for your help with this. That seat clamp looks like the answer. Working lots at present so cant check whether it will fit or not, but it looks like a great solution

Good news. There are lots of different sorts around. I used one on a very small women's frame once. Had to be used as even though the frame (from spesh) had the necessary mounts, the xs frame with 700 wheels meant that it was all but impossible to get the normal fittings into them. All now set up fine, works fine.
