I brought my first pair of armwarmers recently. I tried them on and they felt way too tight, so I sent them back and exchanged this small pair for a medium. The medium still feels too tight. I wore them on a short 45 minute ride yesterday and when I got back and took them off, my arms were red and tingling a bit for a while afterwards. There's no way that medium would be too small for me because I am quite a slim bloke. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I'm not seating them right on my arms? The armwarmers in question are Sportful No-rain armwarmers.

Try a different brand? I use adidas ones and other than a little wrinkling and slipping, I've vet had the issues you describe. Go to an LBS or two, find ones that feel comfortable and buy there

Arm warmers are incredibly basic pieces of kit. Your assertion that 'medium must be the right size' is simply not supported by the evidence.

What ever you do, don't, when pulling on armwarmers let go and punch yourself in the face.
I mean, what silly twit would do that?

I too have punched myself in the face when removing a reluctant armwarmer!

As for using legwarmers as armwarmers ... A very skinny 17 year old came on some of my rides a few years ago. The first time was a very cold day and he was really feeling his lack of insulating body fat. He was shivering at our cafe stop and asked where we were so he could call his mum and get her to come and collect him (bless him!) ... While we were waiting, I noticed that his pipecleaner-like legs were enclosed by the smallest legwarmers that I had ever seen so I asked where he got them from in that size. It turned out that they were a small pair of armwarmers!
