Suits got nothing to do with it. If you need to work out how serious anyone is look at their shoes.

A little story......I worked with a client from Asia. He came to London and decided he wanted a bespoke suit. I took him to a suitable place and he walked out three grand lighter. I suggested to him that he should get some shoes to complement the suit (it would be posted to him a couple of months later). He said he was fine for shoes
Fast Forward...I'm visiting him in Asia. He is wearing the suit, and to be fair, it looks really great. But the shoes.....how best to describe......utilitarian? Completely ruined the look. Wasted three grand.
I wear Loakes'...can't afford Church's
I rarely need to wear a suit (or choose to) and by the time I dig it out of the wardrobe again it looks old-fashioned. Recently however, I decided I'd like to wear one more often, so I bought a really nice one. For £10. From Oxfam![]()
...although i think i'd look quite dapper in a safari suit.
I do look better in a suit than in most clothes.
A really good suit won’t need cleaning that often (unless you’re a complete slob) and any minor spills can be dealt with by a damp cloth and a warm iron.
A couple of tailor-made suits can last a lifetime and they don’t have to cost a fortune.
A nice pair of Derbys will work with jeans too.
