No "proper" holiday for us again this year, combination of lack of money and large age differences of children make it difficult.
Eldest kids don't want to come but can't be trusted by themselves at home.
Guess we'll be exploring the lakes and borders again, hopefully on my new mtb.
Same for us... we're doing a house swap with rellies at the other end of the country, the boon for me being that I'm cycling there, taking 5 days or so to get there :becool: Just got to plan a route now.

no plans yet - way too early in the year to be planning a summer holiday for this year... ;)
next thing I know people will be telling me it is time for me to get a job...

but we are away to Scotland (again) in a little over 2 weeks time - usual place on Loch Rannoch: the only difficult decision is which of our 6 bikes do we take - can only get 4 onto the bike rack  and how many circuits of Loch Rannoch I can do in a day...

Due to poor health and poorer finances, this year's summer holiday will be ... an exciting 5 days at my sister's house in Coventry - yay! (It will be nice to see everyone again, but it isn't something that I'm going to be dreaming about for the next 4 months.)

If my health and fitness somehow make huge advances by then, I would extend the visit, and take a bike down with me. I would do a couple of Midland forum rides, cycle down to visit my other sister in Towcester, and cycle back to Yorkshire with an overnight stay at my niece's house in Nottingham. In reality, that lot will probably have to wait until 2014.

Frustrating isn't it?

It is, yes! I can see light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel is turning out to be a lot longer than expected!

Enjoy your trip to the Big Apple!

I tell you one thing - when I am healthy again and have enough money, I am going to treat myself and the friend who looked after me during the worst parts of my illness to a fantastic holiday. That would probably be a long walking holiday in the UK. I'd also treat myself to a cycling holiday somewhere warm with mountains! (Probably Tenerife, because I have a friend who lives there.)

I have been to Florida and a 5 night Caribbean cruise so far this year. I go to France Friday for a long weekend.
I will go to France for Easter.
I am in Gran Canaria for a week in June
I am in France for a week in July to watch the Tour
I will make a few more trips to France this year as well but they are not booked yet (I have a place in France)

We normally sail a yacht in the Ionian and stop at Kephalonia stopping at Sami, Ay Eufemia, and Fiskardo.
This year we are going to the Aegean.

Stayed in a studio in Efemia once, loved it. There is nothing like sitting in a harbour front taverna, eating souvlaki, drinking mythos and watching the sunset as the yachts cruise in for the night. Magic.
It is also a good bike ride from Efemia along the coast to Sami, as long as you watch out for goats leaping into the road in front of you.
Hope you have a good trip around the Aegean. Will you be visiting Santorini? To be honest it is all pretty stunning!

That would be brilliant mate, hope it's not too long before you are planning it all.

I'm off for a week in the Ionian (again) in May doing the same trip - Sivota, Fiskardo, Ay Eufemia etc - love it!

We are also going to Vassiliki on Lefkas/Levkada for a combined windsurfing/mountain bike holiday. Mornings riding the bike up the mountains, afternoons windsurfing, evenings drinking.

It's such a horrible holiday we're doing it in June AND September - ah the perils of not having kids :bravo:
