Superfluous Patriotic Branding.

I know it's more or less compulsory to print Union Flag designs on stuff this summer, so I thought we should collect some examples.

Of course I have access, in the course of my work, to a huge sample, so I start with a cardboard wrapper I saw today, a Union Flag design on a box of M and S chilled cauliflower cheese.

I'm sure Her Maj likes a bit of cauliflower cheese for supper when she's not on duty, but really, did it need patriotic branding? It's not like it's typical street party food!

I bought a union flag mug, because I liked the curves on it. I might have to paint over that. It is a slightly curved flat mug or another way of seeing it a very oblate spherical mug or a volume of revolution or whatever. The skew on the handle is also interesting. It is for drinking tea which is the most important function.

A Union Jack alludes to the flag if it is on a ship. Otherwise, it is just a Union Flag. So no, you didn't buy a Union Jack mug unless it was a picture of it on a boat

Eh, I'm not offended. We are doing the flag waiving for the Jubilee, and also perhaps because many feel that over the years, there has been an effort to erode the national identity (especially now with the Scots pushing for Devolution). I was wondering if there is as much flag waiving in your area in the way it has been done here - it wasn't a barbed question
