Got an email from Sky earlier in the week offering to sell me one of these....

Unfortunately they're out of my price range, especially when I'm saving up for these....

If only they were available padded and in tight lycra :becool:

It's a bit more complicated than that...
We are doing the flag waiving for the Jubilee
I wish we did have flag waiving - unfortunately there's quite a lot of waving.

Boris Bikes have rebranded, I noticed this morning. Instead of a tasteful Barclay's logo they've got a jubilee logo.

Why are we celabrating we live under a monarchy? It isn't like it is a good thing.

*gasp* ^_^

I don't mind em - in fact when I saw the elephants waving the flag infront of a steam train yesterday it made me come over all fuzzy and just a teeny bit proud of the whole place and it's various institutions.

It isn't good. We should get rid of the monarchy will we don't have a nut job in. How the hell can anyone think it is a good thing that we have had someone in power for 75 years?

But some people do. I'm not a flag waving royalist but if i had to pick I'd choose to keep them. I'd like to check the costs that you and I pay for but I do know they bring a massive amount of tourism and money into the country which can't be a bad thing.

Tourism cannot be an argument for where political power falls.

I think the Queen has been a more genuine and conscientious head of state then any of the political leaders we've had. She didn't ask for the job (nor did her Father) but has made the best of doing the job under the circumstances. More then I can say those that we have to vote for.
But best leave that argument to another forum as this is the cafe.

I have no flag to wave (not going to buy one either) and I really don't think the Queen would mind.

B&Q do have flag pedal bins though, with that aged and faded war time look about them.

She can resign power of the royal family, she chooses not to. She didn't ask for the job but she happily took it and kept it!

You wouldn't want it. She is now well into her 80's and has a schedule which would wilt many people 30 years younger than her.

If you had watched the series of documentaries a couple of years ago, you would appreciate that with the grace and favour comes a lot of responsibility and self discipline which few people would realy want to take on. Whilst we have had political leaders who have come and gone, the monarchy has been a diplomatic channel which may have smoothed the way and allowed a quick and cost effective resolution to many problems we might have not been able to resolve through the regular plebs in power.

I cannot belive people actully think that having a dictator is a good thing! How dumb do you have to be to think that one person having all the power of a nation is a good thing? It doesn't matter if she is a good dictator that lets other people make some choices, she is still a bloody dictator! I'm not saying she isn't good at her job (that I do not know). I'm saying the system is broken.

Eh, I'm not offended. We are doing the flag waiving for the Jubilee, and also perhaps because many feel that over the years, there has been an effort to erode the national identity (especially now with the Scots SNP pushing for Devolution separation) . I was wondering if there is as much flag waiving in your area in the way it has been done here - it wasn't a barbed question

FTFY

Not flag waving, but flag waiving. Amusingly just as the snp campaign gets underway, the place seems to be plastered with union flags.
