One good, two good, three reported. Why can't they all get it right?

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Got drenched in a passing rain storm in the minute or two it took to find shelter and get my rain gear on , hopefully the kit will be dry by the time I finish later.
Also had road closures to deal with which makes the ride in tricky.

luck of the irish last night ( family is irish) rain totally chuckedi it donw yesterday afternoon was expecting a soaking, put gear on ride as hard and as fast as I could missed the rain not sure how just blind luck. Expecting a soaking as some point this week, gone slightly different route than normal traffic no so bad although bound to change once Scholl traiff kicks in. Nice ride in with minimal traffic. Loving the flat bar road bike nice gentle ride in.

A nice (weather wise) but chillier start to the day. A couple of impatient close passes en route only for the driver to end up not getting anywhere fast and holding me up. Sanity resumed with drivers as I got closer to town who were all patient and the traffic gods rewarded them for being so in giving them green lights.

I might have to bite the bullet on that headset it was perfect for about 16,000 miles. Then it developed play that I couldn't sort. Took it to a bike shop expecting them to have to replace it, but they got it sorted for about 1000 miles more. Its developed that play again. Train fettling seems about the best so far in sorting it but its not perfect 👎

Had a little pootle/ commute to today's workplace...my home

1. Observed today as I do regularly in East London/ Essex is car stopping at traffic lights / junctions anything up to 3 vehicle lengths from the stop/ give way markings. I've also observed learner drivers stopped like this. Is this something new being taught. Not sure why vehicles are stopping like this, often meaning they cannot see whether any vehicles are coming across their path. Still I suppose it make a change from those who stop their vehicle so they , the driver, are level with the stop/ giveway line, irrespective of the fact several feet of their vehicle is sticking across the road, especially when there is a cycle lane there.

2. As I stopped at a T Junction today, I looked down and saw a nice new £20 note on the ground. I rescued it from the danger of all the passing traffic without concern for my own safety.....The Milky Bars are on me

Feels quite autumnal already, certainly cooler but still in short sleeves and shorts. So far the weather has been all over lunchtime and I've stayed dry morning and evenings. Schools not back yet here! making the most of the largely empty roads.

Lol, I managed to get my bike strapped up in the bike space and I turned round and politely asked a woman if it was OK to sit down. Her partner opposite piped up, how many seats do you want mate, you've got seats over there. I think she was quite embarrassed by him but just acknowledged yes there the bike space and smiled.

Missed rain last night again somehow and of course caught it this morning, was geared up with some over shoes hi-viz and all the lights.
As with previous post I hate cycling in the rain not because its wet that doesnt bother me its all the idiots the bad weather seems to attract today was no different. First road this morning met with an electric bike numpty shot passed him, I said in passing you should have your lights on mate, nah I have my hi-viz on. I realise its early september and the weather can catch you out but a blue jacket with two hi-viz strips is not really hi-viz not my problem if you go over a car bonnet its up to you. Usual close passes and over takes pointless usual F**kery. Cant wait until its stops raining might get some sensible driving. Is it really to much to ask you treat other road users with some respect on the roads. On a positive note on flat bar road bike managed to average 15.8mph fastest I have ever gone on that bike.

Awoke 45 minutes early and aching to the sounds of rain lashing down outside, with the netweather radar map showing a huge swathe of heavy precipitation heading over the city from the south west.

There was a gap in the middle but hitting that exactly looked unlikely so I resigned myself to getting wet.

Another quick check after all the pre-departure stuff had been done revealed that miraculously the rain was just missing me, skirting the city to the west.

The morning air was fresh but still warm for a really pleasant ride in; with generally very positive interactions with others and a number of drivers letting me in / out / allowing it to be shaken all about as appropriate

Sausages were better than expected and I arrived at the office in good time after a really nice autumnal journey; the novelty of how pleasant this is compared to my commuting situation last year (and worse the years before) still not lost

Last night: Had to sit in the office for 15 minutes to let the biblical rains pass; but after that much like the morning I was lucky with the massive tract of rain passing to the south east this time.

Of course I couldn't just play it safe and go straight home; choosing instead to press north for a dangle on the bars and a very disappointing (thanks to previous exertions) attempt to push beyond an active hang towards a pullup.

Until this point it'd been a very nice ride with fresh but warm post-storm air and sunshine, however as I headed back into town it started to rain pretty hard and I got pretty damp, although it could have been worse.

Also I was compelled to have a go at some w*nker in front of me who decided to park his car to my cost. Evidently having found a space on our side of the road instead of indicating he simply stopped, banged on the hazards, smashed it into reverse and started heading straight towards me. I couldn't go around him due to opposing traffic so had to get off the bike and yank it out of the way - with all of about 4" between his back tyre and my pedal when he finally checked his mirrors, saw me and stopped.

As I glared at him through his window he put his hand up somewhat dismissively, this wasn't enough and he was more apologetic after being advised to use his f*cking indicators. I absolutely despise this current, seemingly growing trend of people just assuming that sticking the hazards on allows them to do absolutely anything selfish / dangerous / illegal with impunity; especially when using signals when pulling off the road would at least give others more of an idea what's going on rather than just a heads-up that they're likely to do something utterly moronic.

On to the shop to find four vehicles parked on both sides of the bend on double yellows; missed an opportunity to embarrass one of those responsible as she poked her head out from behind one of the illegally parked vans (evidently having trouble crossing the road as a result) only to get into one of the other problem-vehicles. Had I been quicker of thinking some overtly sympathetic harsh words about the parking might have made her consider her own behaviour.

This morning I miraculously missed the rain again, however it seems the schools might be back as the traffic was back to its bloody awful usual self. A mostly nice sunny, mild ride with a lot of standing water (which the Longboards coped with admirably as usual - still seething that SKS discontinued them  ).

Of course it couldn't all be roses and this morning's irritation came in the form of an impatient taxi driver. A bus had stopped on my side of the road with about a car's width between it's rear and the parked cars on the opposite side of the road. A woman and child infront of me on an ebike had already given way to let one car through, and had started to move off to pass the bus when a taxi appeared from the opposite direction at speed and tried to force its way through, causing her to hit the brakes and skid to a stop. She moved out of the way, however I didn't so we all sat there until the bus moved, the taxi driver getting some stern eye contact and a much deserved finger as he passed.

The morning has picked up since getting to the office thanks to quality sausages and an early dose of caffeine; not sure how that's going to pan out for the rest of the day however as I'm knackered and have kickboxing later..
