Tales from today's commute....

Morning all. A glorious morning here in the South East. Sun shine and blue skies.
Temps are a little low at 7° at the moment but should rise quite quickly.

The new cycle lane in Deptford is a welcome addition. Though remains to be see how long it takes to get full of crap and the cones to be flattened.

Damp last night, but a fine sunny spring morning and forecast to be equally wonderful all week. Blue skies, singing birds not even too much traffic.

Not as nice as yesterday by many metrics - colder, more overcast with traffic essentially backed up nearly past my front door for much of the way into the city.

It was pretty much gridlock until I reached the ring road, the traffic so dense that it slowed me down markedly as I had to keep dipping into the crawling cars to avoid oncoming vehicles. There are some roadworks going on but the ring road looks horrific so I assume someone's done something particularly stupid on the A34.

Elected for only two sausages as they didn't look that well cooked - more fool me when I got to the office to find the pair I had scored crisp and delicious... at least I got some scratchings as well.

Not a bad ride in and notably free of morons - unlike last night's trip to the shops where some absolute tool in a car overtook me by travelling entirely on the on-path cycle lane through Osney Mead - what I'd not have given for an on board camera...

Another glorious morning - chillier than yesterday and being 10 minutes earlier traffic seemed to be lighter, and I avoided the majority of the school run sh*t drivers

Late start today, so it was so nice to ride in with plenty of sunlight.
I was stopped for a while at a zebra crossing. When I was about to set off, I noticed an old boy with his Zimmer frame just about to cross so I thought go on, wait a couple of secs let him start to cross. Super-slow fella bless him, gets about halfway across and gives me a thumbs-up, so I gave him a thumbs-up too.

1st commute in nearly 2 weeks today and it was a shock to the system as it was a lot warmer , i was overdressed but i did not want to stop and take my gilet off this morning as i had a dark jersey on .
Coming home my usual route home was closed so i had to detour into town then up the a 511 from burton heading home so i got a good workout as the hill is pretty remorseless and a couple of miles long which was a bit of a shock to the legs !

Started shortly after sunrise and despite the low temperatures (noticed some frost on the grass in the roadside ditches) it was a nice and easy ride. The way back was much warmer (> 10°C), but a bit windy - of course headwind. So I eased up one gear and managed to do the whole ride with an average heart rate of 115 bpm. The rides of the last weeks finally come into effect.

With a heart rate monitor. You can link it to a bike computer and read it while you are cycling.

google bike computers that’s if you know what google is.😱

I've heard of a heart rate monitor, but is there a physical wire attached to your skin when you're on the bike? How's it send the signal?

You wear a chest strap and it sends a signal to your unit or you can have wrist watch unit, these are not as accurate.
