Tales from today's commute....

No riding yesterday or today as appointments for mini ck 1 are falling so i can get to work in the car but it would be too tight to chance it on the bike . I was glad yesterday as it was binning it down most of the day and night .

A stark contrast to yesterday - warmer on paper but much less humid after last night's rain for a fresh and very pleasant waft to town and back in the sun; only spoilt by a fairly stiff breeze.

Still knackered from lots of miles covered recently on foot / the bike, but today's ride once more felt like a privilege than the necessary grind of a few recent utility trips

Not sure what was happening this morning, but I was pottering about, and suddenly it was 8am, and I had 14 minutes to catch the train. Fortunately, I live 4 minutes from the station, but I realised I hadn't transferred things from my normal bag to the Brommie bag. Much rushing about ensued, ending in a rapid ride to the station with two minutes to spare.

Not quite a commute story but a feel-good one & I didn't want to create another thread...

I was walking home from the shops and I saw a teenage kid with his bike upturned.
I thought he'd got a puncture, so I asked if he needed any help. Turned out his chain had snapped. No quicklink on his MTB, but I said I'd pop home, get my chain link tool and try to fix it (but made no promises!). I returned with the tool a few minutes later and removed the damaged links. Then a lovely fella happened to be passing by - he'd been on a group cycle ride and was on his way home. He asked me if I needed any help fixing the bike (...Nick, in the unlikely event you're on this forum, thanks for stopping by). I explained that the kid's bike chain was bust and I was trying to rejoin it...I'm glad he stopped by because he showed me a handy trick of partially removing a pin, just enough to release the sacrificial link, then reinserting the pin when joining the 2 good ends together again.
Between us, we got the bike going again and the kid was grateful as he had another 10+ miles to ride to get to Market Harborough.

Looked to be a damp start to the day, bbc weather and google nest informing me no chance of rain got bike ready this morning and of course drizzle in the air. Nice tailwind into work. Usual morons down the 20 mile an hour section trying to over take and cut one another up almost taking everyone else out in the process. Brooker vans registration taken and reported to the company not that they will do anything about it but there is always hope. Cant wait for weekend now supposed to be bbq weather

warm and muggy, last night's downpour leaving everything very wet, but not actually raining and fine riding.

Started with my waterproof on, but took it off fast. Then just wet under tyre and light winds. Some nasty diesel spills on my route in, so took it easy ! Bike was filthy from yesterday morning, so didn't wash it last night.

Ultra quiet on the roads with half term. A bit damp, but not unpleasant.

Damp in the morning but not a bad ride in to be fair. Headwind all the way back from work though, fair few collapsed branches over the Trail but no trees!

took old btwin flat handle bar for spin this morning to give me a break for road bikes. Muggy morning, not much trafffic as Friday is national work from home day or doss day. For some reason I decided on hi-viz was a puddle of sweat time I got near work. Despite the fact my shoes are fluro, yellow, my jacket is fluro yellow twat in the car didnt see me and decided to do a three point turn in the middle of the road then almost took me out at the round about. This weekend I am going to get a video for the bike had enough...

On the lovely Van Nick today and why not? It's a lovely, dry, warm morning with the weather here in the SE only getting better as the day progresses.
Like @markharry66 says, it's WFH or doss day. Station and train near empty.
Cycling the 27 miles home later this afternoon and so looking forward to it.

A surprisingly fast commute. After getting dressed my stomach (legacy of the big C 6 years ago) decided to empty. I then got stopped at every set of lights and some idiot this week has decided that the cycle path is a good place to drop off. I'd hope nearly every driver crashing behind them the other day as they turned off the road unexpectedly would have been enough to convince them not to. Anyways after all that I actually got to the Station in plenty of time, it must have been a strong tailwind.

Too nice to be in here though!

I wish I'd been earlier then I could of got of the train earlier for a proper ride!

Last nights commute was warm and windy , of course it was a headwind
At one point i was on the cycle path section and a lorry came the other way as the path runs along side the dual carriageway and with the wind and the lorries draft i was hit by a load of gravel bits off the path right in the face so im glad i had glasses on .
