Persistent drizzle whole ride in - too warm for full waterproofs, but quite wet without.
Last night's big fire in manchester started not far from my work, very visible and smellable smoke for some distance. Got out of range before it properly set off, lots of sirens hearing towards.

Not exactly a commute but an after lunch ride out. I pick up my helmet and the male clip falls in my hand, it’s all come undone. Thirty mins with a pair of tweezers and it’s fixed. Perhaps it’s time for a new helmet?
I had that annoying problem once.
I decided to cut the strap end at an angle and heated up the cut end to stop it fraying. It was a lot easier to pass the strap through the buckle after that.
I was on my way home the other day and there was a group of schoolkids on the pavement to my left.
One of them offered me a high-five as I passed by. I thought go on he's a young kid, I'll raise my hand for the hi-5. Then he deliberately put his hand back down as I raised mine - lil bro just left me hanging!

Glad I chanced not wearing a jacket today. I've only done the short (barely existent) jaunt to the station but standing on the platform for 10mins was roasting. I'll probably go the whole way which will mean battling a headwind for 4miles, fill my bottle (just tools on the commuter 🥵) and go out for a training session.

Out on flat bar today, chain keeps coming off with road bike. Relaxed ride in alhough it feels like a tank in comparision triple cassette cant be believe how often was chainging gears. No traffic, been like that for at least last month. Traffic in the eveniongs and nothing in the mornings. Doing the job I do I have ntocied its seems a lot of people use final fews weeks to go away before kids break up for school holidays. Nice grind hone last night up hill with headwinds all the way home. Not so windy today which is a good thing when you are riding a heay weight antique.
Yesterday, the evening train home took over an hour and a half rather then the usual 27 minutes. Due to a trackside fire damaging cables. Checked the rail app this morning and the usual 12 trains an hour into London are down to only 2. I didn't even bother going to the station, it would have been madness. So working from home today.

Raining when I got up thought it was going to be a car dealy soumehow it stopped. Nice taliwind into work. Almost taken out on way in from prat on youth scooter pulling out from parked cars didnt even look managed to avoid at least minute, its been quiet on the pratt front this week so had been expecting something over last few days. Took longe route, fastest time ever managed average speed of 16.1 not bad for all the traffic lights, legs ache but looking forward to the gear grinding head wind on the way home tonight. Off tomorrow, cant wait for a slight break away from the funny farm.

On the ride home yesterday, a young girl about 10-12 years old passed me on a private escooter on the cycle path. So parents are now buying banned transport for kids?. Zero experience of using motorised transport, likely zippo road craft too
. Last year, a bloke was killed in an escooter collision about 2 mins walk from our office. I've also seen parents out with young (ie about 4-5 years old) kids on them as passengers, poor kids can hardly reach handlebars, clinging on for dear life....

A bit of a fresher cycle in this morning and assisted by a strong tailwind which was a good thing when my train wasn't on the platform and I had to run round for the earlier one. The earlier one is still sitting here but if it had been on time it technically would have been leaving just as my regular train was announced cancelled, until then it had apparently been on time.
Edit: the 'early' train left 9 minutes late so my dash up the stairs then run to the bike carriage wasn't needed! And in my rush I have left the garmin running. It'll be interesting what speed the train gets to. My guess is 55mph! Edit, edit: I was wrong, it was just over 100mph, the average with all the stops and my 4miles cycle was 51mph.

It's bl00dy beautiful out there with a tailwind but I resisted the urge to cycle the whole 59miles home as I never had a bottle (just a faux tool bottle). And having sat in this nice cool train I think I'll be lazy and stay on the train all the way to Pottyboro. I'll just leave it at this just now and keep my legs for the weekend.
Edit I think I'd been better getting of the train at Huntingdon and cycling 18 miles home or even cycling the wholes 59miles home as what was a nice breeze in the city centre soon became a slog when things opened up a tiny bit.

Seems to be a regular thing now, eschewing the train home part of the commute on a Friday. All down to the glorious weather of course.
Todays ride home was a fabulous wind assisted one so didn't have to work too hard in the heat. The Garmin showed a max temperature of 33.5°. I was a drenched, sweaty mess by the time I got home.

quiet two week with no indcidents, all well this morning until hit a mni round about turning right third exit and complete plumb decides I am not going fast enough on a mini round about over takes. Would love to caught up with this runt and see what explination or justification they have for chunting other road users off the road. I remember years ago there was a trend for kicking bad drivers wing mirrors off can see why now.
