Tales from today's commute....

You could tell the schools were back but after having to go slow through the pinch points (which are correctly designed so slow down drivers too), I was motoring with a tailwind and it was a lovely 🌄

Avoided the rain. Just a few light showers on the way in. Rather warm and felt the heat building after I got off the bike. Full of a head cold so took it easy. Just 2 minutes slower than a fast ride.

Must have been wet for some as a colleague had his kit and cycling shoes in the drying cabinet.

Oh and popped my 'post it note' on the plug socket for the dryer. One of the building staff usually turns the cabinet off when he has a break (sits in the store room). This is normally OK, but not on a wet day as kit doesn't dry. The note just asks that the cabinet is left on due to wet kit.

What a lovely mild morning. 13° with the sun peeking through the clouds. Back to summer gear. Short sleeves and shorts.
My fellow recent train cycling commuter wasn't on the train this morning. They must have got up earlier to get their usual train. So back to being the lonesome cycle commuter.

Had a really nice ride in, heard a shout of Ian as I overtook another cyclists. One of the older regulars of the A21 blast. I haven't seen him for a while so was nice to have a chat en route and catch up.

Yesterday was heavy - mild and dry so nice riding conditions, couple of knobheads on the way in on the usual 7 mile out and back to get breakfast then on to work.

After work it was on to kickboxing for a decent session before riding the caffeine and adrenaline wave to push out north for the first session on the rings in a while; which was utterly punishing but rewarding. Then it was back into town and to the supermarket for scant reward; although I did get some slightly reduced battered fish for dinner as I was really craving some protein. A headwind on the way back made it tough going with convincingly aching legs by the time I arrived home having covered another 17 miles or so.

A hard day but I fell asleep feeling absolutely euphoric having thoroughly hammered seemingly every part of myself

This morning saw another nice ride with a very fast first leg thanks to a significant tailwind. Conspicuously little traffic in the usual places today; not sure if this is the result of last week's congestion charges or just natural variation.. it'll be interesting to see how this plays out over the following weeks providing the frothy-mouthed Daily Mail brigade of self-entitlement don't get their way and get it pulled.

Sausages were magnificent this morning; crisp, bronzed and supremely tasty

urgh. Wet. Heavy traffic. Not quite enough lurgy to justify staying at home, but not fun - until a convenient lorry pulled away at the lights and I could wake surf up the final stretch of road.

Quite necessary when you have to put up with their hate filled, ill informed shyte that can impact on your commute on a daily basis. If you don't like peoples views there is a ignore member feature you can utilise.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt seeing as I think you live in foreign climes. The Daily Heil perpetuates pure hate against anything that doesn't conform to their ill informed nasty right wing values of which includes an irrational hate of cycling and cyclists. According to them, we should be made to pay 'road tax', have number plates and be banished from the roads.
I think I remember you said yourself a while back, you can't believe the amount of shyte us cycling commuters have to put up with. Well it is because of these people that we have to.

Once again, I do not understand why you read so called: Shyte, why not ignore it, as I do about anything connected to the Labour party and that tit Starmer- or Trump, come to that. We can let negative forces interrupt our lives or we can just smell the roses. At the end of the day, there is absolutely nothing we little people can do to effect change so we might as well not let it affect our personal well being - and get out a ride our bikes.

I just missed it this morning, but it's wet again out there for the ride home. Taking it easy as my lurgy hasn't gone yet.
