Tales from today's commute....

Funny weather, on the edge of dry and a bright dawn but wet also. Quite busy with traffic this morning although the vast majority was fine. I did get one MGIF as I braked down a steep hill to the lights (one of the few hills in Peterborough and its over the ECML).

87F degrees here yesterday and expect the same today, I am not a commuter but riding in such temperatures particularly with high humidity is a bit hard. I hope you are all sympathetic.

Bailed - wet and icy and I've a minor head cold but with blocked sinuses and I keep getting a bit dizzy if I move about.

Off work the next 2 days to get my holiday quota in so it will be zwift , coming home last night it was hovering just above freezing but i had that promised tailwind and it was dry so apart from getting home just before 1 am it was a pleasant ride

Funny noise from rear wheel, twice per rev something catching. Cant see anything specific wrong, on the dark, rainy street. 10 seconds later Bang! Split tyres, exploding inner tube.
It happened just close enough to home that I didnt even stop to repair or inspect, just wheeled it home.

Took the bus in this morning, extra 30 min longer journey.

This morning it was time for handlebar mitts, woolly hat under helmet, winter bib longs etc.
Glad I prepared for the cold as I have Raynaud's syndrome which is no fun.

When you get a chance, check that the wheel rim hasn't been compromised.
I had a blowout like yours - caused by a worn-out wheel rim (not a problem if you've got disk brakes of course).

Made it to the station in plenty of time, and then realised I didn't have my wallet, which contained my railcard.

"Oh dear" I said, or something beginning with "Oh..." anyway.

Raced back home on Brompton, found wallet, raced back to see train pulling away as I approached the station.

Checked on phone: next connection was in an hour, or there was a train leaving Rottenburg (about 5 miles or 8 km in Normal World Units) in half an hour.

I started pedalling. Thankfully the route to Rottenburg is traffic free using the Neckar Valley Cycleway.

Made it with five minutes to spare; in work a mere 30 minutes late and well before anyone else...

After an extremely upset stomach after lunch today I decided to skip my VO2max session tonight and go for a slow jaunt round an unlit gravel path round the lakes on route to home for some fresh air. After that I kinda feel normal again. My legs feel they could do the session and my stomach just feels empty 🙃

I've had my heated gloves on for the last 3 commute's. Ive probably said I've Reynauds from the aftermath of my chemotherapy 6 years back. Its supposed to be back to 14deg C by the end of the week

Cold and dry today. Great.

-1 overnight here getting up to 1 degree at 8am when I leave. Dilemma tomorrow whether to A) WFH B) go on a main road (busy A56) which should have been gritted C) Usual route to canal towpath but take it slow especially on bends.

would certainly appreciate it getting just a bit warmer for a bit, the threat of ice in the morning and then evenings has been too great the past 10 days or so to risk the bike

Couple of days away from work. Back in today. cold dry uneventful. This evening's forecast is less fun.

A stunning sunrise over the Med today. Lovely blue skies. -0.1° when I left home at 7am
Roads are dry and no wind with traffic behaving nicely makes for a very enjoyable commute.
