Tales from today's commute....

Replaced the pads , not rubbing on the stand but as soon as I started riding they were so I had to turn around and dig out the spare bike. Transfer the lights and panniers over then plod to work.

I opt for lights with rubber straps so its not a too time consuming job to switch them over. The only problem my spare bike is a better bike and I wouldn't choose to leave it often in the bike cage at work. I have been forced to though.

it was the panniers and digging the bike out from behind other stuff in another shed , heck i didnt even have chance to check the tyre pressure .

Ok 3rd time lucky tomorrow ?
reset the front pads again and transferred stuff back to the bike but its forecast sleet / snow for my commute into work so it depends on how bad it is when i get up .

I dip into this thread from time to time, and I’m genuinely in awe of how you all do it day in, day out. The frustrations, the tiny triumphs, the full emotional rollercoaster that comes with a cycling commute — you lot document it better than any documentary ever could.

At the risk of sounding a bit soft, you really are heroes in your own way, keeping roofs over your heads and food on the table while dodging potholes, weather systems, and the occasional motorist who appears to be navigating via echolocation.

I’ve never had a proper cycling commute myself, and honestly, when I read some of the stories on here, I’m not entirely sure whether to applaud you or wrap you all in bubble wrap.

Massive respect to every one of you.

(1) I enjoy it
(2) it's actually much safer health wise than driving

I've been wfh for the last two days for reasons, and already am missing it and looking forward to the sleet tomorrow!

Similar, WFH two days already (still not well), drove in today as gave daughter a lift into Uni with a load of 'stuff', but I'm not 100% I'm well enough to ride tomorrow - still got all sorts of gunk coming out !

I've already lost a couple of Strava Local Legends being off the bike two days... can't be having that.

Morning folks.
I left work early yesterday to try an beat the incoming rain. Just managed to get to the station as it started. Heaved it down once there, drizzle at the other end.
This morning rain was threatening but didn't materialise.
I can honestly say that I've never experience so many rainy days on a commute

Rainy Commute # 20 for the year
Same period last year 2 Rainy commutes

Tomorrows not looking great. I've got a day off any way.

A bit Marie Celeste this morning in places, except the places where I normally wouldn't have to give way. A nice dry fast commute with the wind completely dropped as it is/ or has turned direction.

So much for the forecast that the rain was stopping at 5pm, I got soaked at 6.15pm 🙄 That rain seems to have brought back the traffic chaos but the drivers I did have behind me passed wide or waited politely.

I doubt i will get many days on the bike as mrs ck and mini ck 1 have 3 hospital appointments this week between them at times where i can take them but means i need to get to work asap afterwards .
