London must have done a deal with those thieving Northerners - we got our sun back today, but the warmth was not returned.
Lovely commute until near the end when 2 sets of roadworks near 2 schhols resulted in ridiculous driving, Green traffic light means floor it through roadworks ignoring the fact there are hundreds of children around.
roadworks delayed you, no worries, just turn left from right hand lane, ignore giveway lines and pull out into traffic forcing the vehicles on main road to stop suddenly.

It wouldn't be so bad, but the frivers I saw doing these actions all had their own children in cars.

clearly they do not link motor vehicles with children being knocked down
anyway, forunately for me, I observed all this and was not involved and had a great ride. My fastest of the week

Thankful for dry roads and clear skies, I went to wipe & relube the chain on my Giant Contend commuter this morning and realised that the BB (which I have been intending to replace for about a week) is utterly borked with a good 5mm of wobbly movement/slack.

This is probably due to the excessively watery crappy roads I have to ride on. It's had a hard winter, although I have always tried to keep the drivetrain clean.

So my Giant TCR came out for the first time this year.

No time to fit the mudguards so it did throw up a little muddy water here and there.

The rim brakes are very sharp indeed in the dry and bite far earlier than the hydro 105 discs on the commuter. I had to bunny hop patches of scalped tarmac.

I'll need to grab a bit of weekend time to replace the BB. It's the first time it's been replaced on this bike, hoping it comes out alright. It's lovely to be riding in daylight in the mornings, and with a little more light in the evenings.

Back to dark and gloom this morning, at least as per most Friday mornings the traffic was light. Yesterday's strong and warm South South East wind which would have blown me in had completely switched 180 into a cold North North West wind which made it hard work. The traffic lights were mostly in my favour or about to change green so I was actually slightly faster than I expected. Lol, the only bit of congestion was on the station stairs. Two folk were in front of me, one carrying a case. Some bloke at my rear saw me with a bike and must have assumed it was me carrying the bike was causing a delay. He ran up the stairs on the wrong side to get in front of me and dove into the tiny gap between me and the two in front, only to come to a grinding halt. Very softly he took out my front wheel as I was carrying the bike. He's was then desperate to get passed all the way up but he was now trapped. 😂

Us Northerners did indeed steel the sun and temperature. I dropped the high viz Gillet last night as it was too warm (handy in the morning as it's windproof so keeps the core warm. We are paying for it today, it's back to being wet, although I'm WFH. MrsF was up early to swim in a muddy puddle in Debdale Park.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Coming home yesterday i had a legal e bike sitting on my back wheel as i was full gas going uphill , he could have overtaken as i was only doing about 10-11 mph then as soon as it levelled out i left him.
Today was chilly one again and my legs were tired as i have been pushing it a bit as my knee has been feeling great of late but it was a nasty cold wind in my face so it took a whole 3 mins longer going in to work ;)

Wet going to the station but luckily it's only 0.75 miles and by the time I got off the train for the 4.5miles home it had actually stopped. The roads were soaked though cue the traffic chaos. Nothing much happened except patient drivers. One held back on the Urban dual carriageway (no central reserve) as I shoulder checked a few times before switching to the outside right turn lane. Another held back where he could have easily overtook on the wide flat junction before the only hill on route, then waited until I sat up to let them by. Then another never dived for a pinch point that's stupidly wide before hand and continued to wait and illuminate the road through the only unlit area that's slightly uphill (most drivers pass there if they can't beat me to the pinch point).
