Typical I get up a bit early and the trains are a bit messed up after last night's storm. I maybe could have got on the slow train which I usually get but it was running late and has only arrived. I got on the semi express train which although it leaves 10minutes later is stored at Pottyboro and was already waiting on the platform and gives me time to chill.

I'd got up earlier because I was on the gravel bike and wanted to figure out if the Varia worked upside-down; it doesn't! I had to switch it off as it was beeping constantly and even switched off it was still beeping occasionally!

Why would you want to mount the Varia upside down?
Does it clash with the mudguard mount otherwise?

Didn't work but I wanted to for the reason you said. Around the right way it clashes with the mudguard and there's no room for it as a result.

Maybe you could fit some kind of small block between the light and the seat tube, so that the light is clear of the mudguard bracket. Just an idea, that's just the way my head works!

Cycling into town yesterday down a one way street that has a cycle lane going t'other way, there was a taxi parked on said cycle lane apparently droppong a fare off.
Said cycle lane was edged with a solid white line which as we all know means no stopping / parking.
The taxi pulled out into the road as I was approaching, but as I was aware of the likely scenario, it wasn't an issue as such.
But it did make me wonder that if there had been a collision if the taxi had pulled out too late, who would have been at fault - ?

Seen this a few times now. Mother taking her two daughters to school, kids about 7 or 8, crossed the road in front of me....nothing unusual except they were all riding private escooters. Kid in front must have been about 8 on her own, wobbling over the road, mother had younger kid balanced on the front of her escooter. And of course, straight up onto the pavement. Couple of weeks ago I got cut up by two schoolkids on escooters who barged right across my bows as I rode out of a cycle lane. I managed to spot the crest of the school their uniform had, emailed the school to ask if it was policy to allow pupils to arrive & store banned escooters on the school property. I got fobbed off with the standard ' we don't permit that' but have seen other kids in their uniform going towards the school on escooters, so clearly wrong. So, young kids in charge of banned motorised transport in public...nice. What can go wrong?......

Morning all.
Colder and drier this morning, 6° when I left for the station at 7am, and got a bloody puncture didn't I. Luckily it was only a slight one so made it to the station without having to do the walk of shame. Bloody shard of glass. No matter, on the train, in a nice comfy seat and patched the tube at my leisure.

En route at the other end along the A21 dash, linked up with fellow long time cycle commuting buddy Mariusz who's really good for a wind break and lead out. So made for some nice rapid progress along the deserted bus lanes.
Riding a larger folder which is more akin to a sit up and beg, you do really notice the difference to a drop bar bike. Made for a very nice work out though.

This week's weather is looking nice and dry and for high teen temperatures during the middle of the week. About time too.

Emerged from the burrow this morning late, puffy-eyed and jaded into temperate air beneath an overcast sky.

Seemingly the slowest thing on two wheels I got convincingly overtaken in rapid succession by a bloke on a slightly dubious ebike followed by two others on road bikes. Not wishing to lose my dignity and needing to make up a bit of time I tagged onto the end of this imprompu peloton and enjoyed a swift ride to the ring road thanks to the vacuum ahead and tailwind behind

A bit further in I caught up with, and subsequently passed two of the blokes I'd been following; our paths having diverged with them taking the slightly faster but less scenic route (well, depending on your aesthetic preferences for burnt-out caravans). A bit later coming up the hill in town I clocked the guy on the ebike gaining so I put in a bit more effort and left him behind - perhaps it was legal after all.

Sausages were a solid 10 this morning so I couldn't resist three, while the covered market yielded many smiles from the ladies of various outlets and even some inaugural *bantz* in the butchers with a bloke who usually seems really unhappy to see me - perhaps he's just a miserable bastard and it's nowt personal..

Really buoyed by these insignificant little interactions it was on to the tow path for a nice, uneventful final leg to the office
