Fair enough... but I've been with TT for internet for nearly 2 years now, and not had a single problem... not one at all

Yes and this is the argument I hear all the time and is true with a lot of broadband providers you dont find out how good these companies are until you get a problem. As someone who fixes computer and broadband problems all day everyday I hope you never find out.

EE hit earlier this year, in a similar manner. No mention in the press though.

Aye! And if you can't prove otherwise (and we're talking absolute proof, not just ruling out everything in the customer equipment), then they'll cheerfully charge their customers a pretty high rate for any engineer time. To be fair, I never figured out how much is TalkTalk and how much is BTO messing them around with the last bit of wiring into the customer premises.

Yes BT can be a pain in the arse, I just sorted out a problem for a customer this week. They had an unreliable BB connection for the last 3-4 years and they thought it was a problem with the whole village but it turned out to be a wiring problem on the BT side of the main socket which BT are currently now sorting out. The BB is not provided by BT but as we all know they own the infrastructure so you always end up dealing with them eventually and they just tell everyone if the fault is found to be the with the customers equipment then they will get a bill of around £150 per hour to fix it so they dont bother, but until I took my gear in a diagnosed it right up to the main socket they were not interested in even looking at the problem the BB company just kept on sending them new routers which never fixed the fault because there was nothing wrong with the router.

Talktalk are just a shambles, I get called out to fix peoples internet problems all the time and they are the worst. Their attitude is that it is the customers equipment that is at fault unless you can prove otherwise, which I have great pleasure in doing on a regular basis.
Spot on! This hack is the fault of your own computer/ your phone line/ Windows software...anybody else but the useless t#ssers themselves.

I would have thought all your details are still in their customer database unless you've asked for them to be removed. When you leave, they will probably just update a flag so as not to bill you but the details will be retained for marketing and in case you decide to go back to them
Bugger.

Just checked my bank accounts and all ok. I think I am ok on that score as First Direct send a code to a little credit card type device they supplied and you have to type that in to get access after you've submitted your password.

Having to wait half an hour on the end of the phone takes the edge off the satisfaction.

I dont mind having to wait to talk to people if they actually knew what they were talking about when they answered.

I am with Plusnet and it usually takes them between 15 - 30 mins to answer the phone, but the upside is when they do answer the phone they are in the UK and you are speaking to someone who knows what they are talking about rather than someone in another country with no technical knowledge at all reading from a computer screen.

The Talk Talk CEO is saying that it is unlikely that they can take money from your account, it is more likely to be used for identity theft, or for phshing where they will contact you pretending to be your bank

I love it when these scammers call and tell me they are from "Microsoft Windows"
I haven't had one for a couple of weeks, I kind of miss them. Next one I'm going to play along then gently introduce the idea that they should have Jesus in their heart, building until all I want to talk about is the love of Jesus. See how long they last.
