Kelly's Heroes looked better on a Sherman
With a drainpipe in place of a 75mm!

Apparently the Leopard is the envy of Challenger and Abrams crews.

Just been reading up on it - it's got some kit that can be bolted on. Like anti tank missile stuff. Apparently the Challenger has the longest shot ever to destroy another tank ! The Israeli tank has some handy defence..

I worked with a couple of guys that were in the tank part of the army (non technical civvy speak) and the chobham armour wasn't fitted until the last minute (this was 15 years ago) until the tanks went out on duty.

My grandfather was a tank gunner. I always wondered why he called Shermans ronson. Then I found out ronson was brand of lighter. Not exactly going to fill you with confidence climbing into it.

Bit of a myth that. The Ronson ad "Lights first time every time" that people used to associate with the Sherman wasn't launched until the 1950s.

The Sherman was actually a very good tank. Fast and with frontal armour almost as good as a Tiger. https://www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/38gqva/m4_sherman_common_myths/

Of course, the T34 was quite a shock to the Hun when it appeared, and set the pattern for modern tank design.

There's a guy up near Daventry with one of the later T34 derivatives.
